1.      Introduction

Lead acid batteries contain a sulphuric acid electrolyte, which is a highly corrosive solution and will produce gas when recharged and explode is ignited.  When working with batteries, you need to wear safety goggles to protect your eyes in the unlikely event of an explosion. You should ensure that you have plenty of ventilation, remove your jewellery and exercise caution.

Do not allow the battery electrolyte to mix with salt water.  Even small quantities of this combination will produce chlorine gas that can kill you.

Always follow the manufactures instructions.
