Toyota SA Supports Springboks
Actively involved on the local rugby scene since 2011, Toyota South Africa has ramped-up its commitment to one of the country’s most popular sporting code by officially backing the bokke.
As the reigning rugby world champions finalise preparations for both a tough end-of-year Northern Hemisphere tour and, indeed, a defence of their World Cup title, the Springboks will once again travel carrying the hopes of an enthusiastic South African public, but now also with the backing of one of the country’s most popular car makers.
Official sponsors of both Free State rugby and the Cheetahs franchise since 2011, it was fitting that the Springboks played their first match following the announcement of a new three-year partnership with Toyota South Africa against a touring Wales team at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
Currently ranked third in the official men’s rankings, the Springboks kick off their tour of the Northern Hemisphere with a match against the second-ranked team, Ireland, on 5 November. It won’t relent for the Boks, as a week later, they face the current top-ranked – and unofficial favourites for next year’s World Cup – the French national side in Marseille. A match against Italy will hopefully not prove too stressful, before the Siya Kolisi-led Springboks line-up against England at Twickenham, the side they comfortably bettered in the 2019 World Cup final.
Hosted in France, the 2023 Rugby World Cup starts on 8 September.
